Bus fares across Agder are set to increase this February. This is stated by Agder Kollektivtransport – AKT – the public transport company in Agder, in a post on their website. The price increase will go into effect starting on the 1st of February. According to the post on their website, the prices are set to face an average increase of 4,1%. Starting on the 1st of February, the students, 30-day tickets will cost the following;
For the Kristiansand area: 418kr
1 zone: 516
2 zones: 573
3 zones or more: 624kr
For the 180days tickets, the prices will be 2090kr, 2580kr, 2865kr, and finally 3120kr, for the Kristiansand area, 1 zone, 2 zones, and 3 zones or more, respectively.
It is worth noting that Byvekstavtalen, the cooperative plan between the city councils, the county council – Fylkeskommunen, and the state, ensures that prices will remain lower in the Kristiansand area as opposed to the rest of Agder County.
These increases in ticket prices comes despite it being a stated political goal to have more travelers choose the bus, as opposed to cars.
Unikum have reached out to AKT’s press contact, but have not received any answers to our questions in regards to the price increase. Nor have we received an answer to whether AKT is expecting the increased ticket prices to be reflected on available buses and departure frequencies in the future.
