The final stretch

It’s that time of year again, when we all become completely engulfed in exams, assignments, and deadlines. It’s May! The peak month of spring, when everything blooms, the weather gets warmer, and Norwegians barely work.

We have the 17th of May, along with Ascension Day and Whitsun — and good luck trying to get anything done around those days! Jokes aside, we only have a couple more weeks of work left until the summer holidays. In a few short weeks, we will hopefully be enjoying warm summer days, long evenings and holidays by the beach.

Unless, of course, you are stuck working a summer job, which is the reality for a lot of students trying to make some money or keep their student loans under control. Still, I encourage everyone to find some time to relax, wind down, and enjoy the sun.

This edition also marks the end of my first semester as editor-in-chief. It has been both a challenging and rewarding experience. There have been many hours spent writing articles, proofreading and chasing sources to get the best stories. There have been weekly editorial meetings, desk weekends, and interviews with amazing people. There have been ups, like getting to work with wonderful people, being invited to cool events and meeting students from student newspapers all around Norway in Oslo, and downs, like my first editorial meeting, where only four people attended and I was quite scared how we would go on the whole semester.

Luckily, it all worked out well! And above all, it has been an amazing experience so far. Over the summer, I will be working hard behind the scenes to hopefully deliver even more content for you next semester.

Thank you, our readers, for sticking with us for another year. We really appreciate your support and are grateful to have you. I also want to thank Vlad, our graphic designer, for everything he has contributed to Unikum over the past two years. You’ve done an amazing job, and we’ve been lucky to have you. Have a great summer, everyone, and we will see you next semester!
