I’m torn by my efforts,
Some say it’s far beyond the Earth, As though
I gift the sun and stars, When all they desire
is the moon, The weight of reciprocation,
Too much for their universe to hold.
Some agree it’s for them,
They want grand and blinding, My universe with theirs,
Everything I could offer,
Only…not offered by me,
Someone grander,
Same story
Told by different readers.
I sometimes sense
That I spin counterclockwise, That I orbit in
an irregular shape, I collide with some,
Get so close at times,
Just for their path
To diverge from my own.
I have the sun and stars,
And they are beautiful, I believe, But I
too want a moon instead, Someone who
stays close, Comfortable in my orbit,
Just to prove it can be done.
